Death by Parmesan

by Reid Laurence

"Wat'cha do'in?"

"Oh, hi Mary... I didn't know you were standing there. I'm reading the dictionary again, trying to expand my vocabulary. Hopefully, I'll be able to write things that are more meaningful and involved."

"What's the point? Who's gonna be impressed? You can't hide behind big words for long. People will think you're just full'a hot air... get real."

"No, you don't understand. I'm gonna join a new website full of writers who know what
they're doing, and I don't wanna take a chance on looking like an amateur. I can't post just anything. Now do you get it?"

"Sure, I get it. You're knee deep in hyperbole."

"I'm what?"

"Look it up. It starts with an 'h'. You're the hot-shot writer."
