Bringing writers and readers together, online

The main purpose of the site is to give writers of all standards the opportunity to publish their work on the web, for free, and for them to receive feedback from readers. Statistics are automatically generated for each work published, giving writers valuable information about how many people read their ‘blurb’ and how many move on to read their synopsis, first chapter and full text. The resultant ‘drop-out’ figures can help writers see where readers are losing interest, prompting them to revisit their texts. In addition to these statistics, readers are encouraged to review the works they’ve read and to score them for the benefit of others.

My Book Live is for writers of all standards

Just as every journey begins with a single step, so does every successful writing career begin with a first story. For that reason My Book Live welcomes writers of all standards and experience, whether you’ve just finished your first short story or are celebrating the publication of your tenth novel! And there’s no age restriction either, as we have special categories for works by children.

If you are undecided about whether to publish your work on this site, here are 10 good reasons why you should:

• All forms of writing are catered for - novels, poems, short stories, plays and non-fiction.
• It’s easy to use, with step-by-step instructions for those who want to upload their work themselves.
• Alternatively, we can do that for you, from a standard Word doc. or email.
• Detailed site statistics show you how many ‘hits’ you’ve had, and if readers lose interest at any point.
• Readers are encouraged to review your work and score it for the benefit of others.
• All work remains the sole property and responsibility of the writer. In other words, you retain full copyright.
• You can amend your work at any time, or remove it altogether if you so wish.
• Published authors can use the site to generate sales, by publishing the ‘blurb’, synopsis and first chapter only, followed by an unashamed sales message!
• Your work doesn’t have to be finished to be published on My Book Live. Feedback from readers may give you the spur you need to finish it!
• My Book Live has no on-going commercial interest in your work if it’s taken on by an agent or publisher.

How the site works

If you just want to choose something to read, you don’t have to register with us first. Simply click on the title of the work to read the ‘blurb’, and if you like the sound of it click on Read More. Some works are also available in audio format, for people who prefer to listen rather than read!

For more information click on Choosing something to read.
If you want to join My Book Live as a writer you need to register with us first. Having done that, you can choose whether to upload your work yourself or have us do it for you. You’ll find step-by-step guides for submitting work in Help using our site
